Question: What should I do if my camper has a special diet?

We’re happy to accommodate your camper’s needs and can offer several options (you can do both if need be):

  • Your child is welcome to bring snacks or meals with her. In past camps, we’ve set up designated areas in the pantry and walk-in cooler for campers with dietary restrictions or fussy eaters. Just be sure to label her items with her name, and you can give them to us at registration. We’ll store everything securely and show her where to find her snacks.

  • I also make daily trips to the grocery store (Sam’s, Walmart, etc.) and can pick up special foods or treats needed for your camper. We provide allergen-free options like almond milk and gluten-free items for staff members with dietary needs—just let us know what she prefers.

Finally, campers are encouraged to advocate for themselves—asking about ingredients, the day’s menu, or any specific needs. It’s a great opportunity for them to learn self-reliance, and we’re here to support and guide them in doing so.

Cheers,

The Camp Wildwood Team 🌲🏕️
